Deacons
To better serve 2nd Pres and friends of the New 2, the Board of Deacons is divided into four teams with specific responsibilities and goals.
1) 2nd Helping
Purpose - Congregational/Pastoral Care
Leaders:
· Frances Johnson, Team Leader
· Donna Matlock, Co-Moderator
Goals
· To work with the Congregational Care Committee, Stephen Ministry, and parish nurse to look after the emotional, spiritual and physical needs of the congregation.
· To compile a congregational database of both spiritual and practical gifts for use in meeting the body’s needs.
· To assist during funerals, extended communion, and other special times.
· To coordinate the communication of known needs to the congregation as a whole.
2) 2gather2gether
Purpose: Congregational Fellowship
Leaders
· Joel DeNardo, Team leader
· Mariann Thuesen, Team leader
· Donna Matlock, Co-Moderator
Goals
· To facilitate maximum congregational familiarity through a variety of fellowship dinners
· To facilitate meaningful fellowship opportunities on and off site for varying age groups and needs
· To provide for fellowship opportunities on holiday and special occasions, such as Thanksgiving dinner
· To coordinate communication of known fellowship events to the team and the congregation as a whole
3) Face2Face
Purpose: Hospitality
Leaders
· Pam Turner, Team leader
· Kim Elrod, Co-Moderator
Goals
· To be the "face" of 2nd Pres
· To coordinate ushering, on-duty deacons, Wednesday night worship, money taking, and special event needs, such as parking and ushering at funerals
· To assist the Evangelism team in greeting and new member and visitor follow up
· To coordinate communication of hospitality opportunities to the team and the congregation as a whole
4) 2Intercede
Purpose: Prayer
Leaders
· Sally Bible, Team leader
· Kim Elrod, Co-Moderator
Goals
· To establish congregational prayer groups on and off site for men, women, worship services, and special needs
· To assist with the email prayer chain and possibly implement an internet-based prayer request site
· To assist pastors/staff in further prayer needs and opportunities, such as hospital visitation and healing prayer, special healing services, and prayer with pastors before worship
· To coordinate communication of prayer opportunities to the various teams and the congregation as a whole
